Are my messages stored?

No. Conversations are processed in real time for analysis and are never stored on our servers. All results are saved locally on your device only.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Look Closer, and tap "Cancel Subscription." Your premium access remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Why might AI analysis be inaccurate?

AI insights are based on text patterns and may not capture tone, context, or intent perfectly. Results are estimations designed for self reflection, not definitive judgments. We recommend using insights as a starting point for your own reflection.

What happens when I run out of free analyses?

Free users receive 1 analysis per day at no cost. If you'd like more, you can watch a short video ad to unlock up to 2 additional analyses per day (3 total). Daily limits reset every 24 hours. For unlimited access, upgrade to Premium starting at $4.99/month with a 3-day free trial available on the yearly plan.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings → Delete All Data in the app. This permanently removes all analyses, coach sessions, and preferences from your device. Since no data is stored on our servers, no further action is needed.

Is my data shared with anyone?

Your conversation content is sent only to our AI provider to generate analysis and is not stored on our own servers. Optional ads are served by Unity Ads, which may use device or ad identifiers under its policy and your iOS tracking settings. We do not sell your chats.

What chat apps are supported?

You can analyze conversations from any chat app using screenshots. For deeper analysis with full message history, you can export chats from WhatsApp (.zip) or Telegram (.json).

Does the AI coach replace therapy?

No. The AI coach is designed for casual self reflection and communication tips. It is not a substitute for professional psychological, therapeutic, or relationship counseling. If you need professional help, please contact a qualified professional.

How can I exercise my GDPR / privacy rights?

Since Look Closer stores all analysis data locally on your device, you can exercise most GDPR rights (access, deletion, portability) directly through the app under Settings. For any additional requests or questions about how we handle data, email us at support@lookcloser.app.

I am under 17. Can I use the app?

Look Closer is rated 17+ on the App Store and is intended for users aged 17 and older.

Which AI providers does Look Closer use?

We use Google Gemini as our primary AI provider for chat analysis, coaching, and image text recognition. When Gemini is temporarily unavailable due to high demand or rate limits, we automatically use OpenAI's API as a fallback to ensure your analysis completes. Both providers process your conversation text only during analysis and do not retain or train on your data per their API terms. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How long does an analysis take?

Most analyses complete in 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the conversation length:

  • Short conversations (under 1,000 messages): 15-30 seconds
  • Medium conversations (1,000-5,000 messages): 30-60 seconds
  • Long conversations (5,000+ messages or multi-year history): 1-2 minutes
We use chunked processing for longer conversations to provide accurate results across the entire conversation history.

Why does my analysis show the wrong number of days?

If your conversation spans many years, our analysis uses chronological metrics calculated directly from your conversation export. The day count reflects the actual time span between your first and last message in the export, including periods of inactivity.
